HTML5, CSS, jQuery UI, & RWD

InsFocus is an Israeli software company who develop and supply a web-based HTML5 application and dashboard called 'InsFocus Business Intelligence'. This provided underwriters and insurance companies with analysis data and reports for each domain using their built-in, comprehensive insurance data model. The front-end development of this application is a project I undertook during the later months of 2011.

Built from their own designs, the main requirement was to ensure that the interface behaved and responded as though it was a desktop-caliber application, despite being cloud (and browser) based. Built in HTML5, CSS, jQuery, and Objective-J (an object-orientated JavaScript language that forms the heart of the cappuccino framework), the interface includes many features (enhanced with jQuery UI) that you would expect to find in a desktop application including drag and drop, resizable/collapsible areas and columns, various data-powered charts and reporting metrics (including sortable tables), and context menus.

Despite the fairly advanced nature of the interface, careful consideration also had to be paid to graceful degradation: ensuring that older (and lesser-capable) browsers were still able to access the software since a large portion of their customer base were still using Internet Explorer 7.
