HTML5, CSS, jQuery, & PHP
The key feature of the site is the large hero video at the top of the page. This was developed using HTML5 and jQuery to provide a themed video player skin to match the rest of the site, as well as a Flash fallback version to provide the same user experience to those without HTML5 capabilities. The video is formatted and embedded to ensure compatibility across as many desktop, mobile, and tablet devices as possible - always offering the same player look and feel.
The project also required the development of a fairly simple PHP newsletter sign-up form which stores entered details and sends out a responsive HTML email to subscribers automatically to say thank you.
Due to the diverse nature of the magazine's distribution and readership, the website was specifically developed with cross-browser and cross-device compatibility in mind (although, as with the Blue Chip Mobile project, this was before wide-spread support for media queries), as well as allowing for easy future expansion and the later introduction of a content management system.
